RE: Pirateland WiFi Update?

They didn't have it last year and I still don't see it on their web site. http://www.pirateland.com/amenities.html

RE: Anyone cancelling trips due to gas prices?

We decided on a seasonal site this year in Gettysburg PA because of the crazy gas prices. Its only about 20 miles from the house and we take the Honda civic instead of the F350 diesel. We haven't missed a weekend yet and it seems to be working pretty good so far. We were planning trips to Myrtle Beach and Bar Harbor until I figured the savings on gas money alone almost pays for the seasonal site plus we get to spend more time camping this way.

RE: Gettysburg

Drummer Boy Camping Resort http://www.drummerboycaming.com/ IMO; KOA, Round Top and Artillery ridge sites tend to be very tight. Enjoy Gettysburg. For eats try the Dobbin House Tavern and Farnsworth House Inn.

RE: 3 seasons - Rehoboth Beach

And the other campground I saw down there (I can't remember the name) was a dump with roads so tight I don't think that it could accomodate anything largr than 15 feet. The dump was probably Holly Lake and your description is to kind. A piece of summer disappeared with 3 seasons.

RE: Holly Lakes Del.

It's a dump. I stopped there once and paid for two nights. It is gated you can't enter until you pay. Once you get about 100 feet beyond the gate it looks like a third world country. I left immediately but they refuesed to refund my money. Said they had a 24 hour cancellation policy. To this day I make it my mission to make sure they don't sucker anyone else. Don't just take my word for it, check the reviews yourself: linkhttp://www.rvparkreviews.com/regions/Delaware/Millsboro.html

RE: Pennsylvania Amish Country Campground Recommendation

Ah yes, that would be Bonnie. She and her husband Bob are the owners. Bob is okay but you should check out some of the comments about her on rvparkreviews.com. She is a piece of work. All she does is harass the patrons. Stupid stuff like I had to picking up your mats at night because they didn’t want them on the grass. I had a dog pen for our four month old Papillon and I was told it wasn't allowed. I had a tether tied around the base of a tree. She took it off the tree threw it on the ground in front of me and told me not to tie things to her tree. I put up with everything including the electric problem but when you start touching my stuff that’s it. We packed in an hour and pulled out at 8pm. We have been camping at Country Haven for eleven years but it just isn't the same. The old owners Joel and Roz Bieler were the nicest people. Country Haven may have a great view but it isn’t worth putting up with her crap. Thanks for the tip on Beacon Hill maybe we’ll give that a try next year.

RE: Pennsylvania Amish Country Campground Recommendation

We were at Country Haven two weeks ago but will never go back as long as it remains under the current ownership. Temperatures were 98 degrees and I couldn't use the AC. When I asked them if they were aware of the low voltage they got nasty and said they couldn't do anything about it. They said the power company would only supply them with 108 volts. Maybe so, but it would have been nice of them to tell me that before I checked in since an AC requires 120 volts. But they would rather you find out for yourself since they're covered by their policies: 1) no refunds for early departure 2) campground is not liable for damages due to their negligence So, I paid $332 for one night but it was cheaper then buying a new AC.
